2001 at SI

We implemented a new system for handling images this year. I spent a big chunk of my year working on this.
The name is a giggle on Adobe's Stilton (a blue chese that is forced).
Our project was run by the end users.
I have had a busy year, here are a few more things I have worked on.
Remote events:
Orange Bowl, Superbowl, Final Four
Set up network, computers, processors, mounters....
Server room upgrades:
We racked up, assembled, installed systems and applications on 54 servers.
6 fibre San Switches, 8 fibre attached arrays, 4 scsi attached arrays, 5 ait tape libraries.
7.5 TB of hard disk storage 4.3 TB nearline on DVD.

Digital Photography:
This year cameras were introduced that are good enough to actually use in Sports Illustrated.
We have come up with default settings for the cameras, training for the photographers and solved most of the workflow issues.
Media Server:
New hardware 2 clusters all data is stored on one of 2 SAN's.
We will have 1 million images by the end of the year.
The software went from NT to 2000 advance server Media Server 3 to 4 and SmartStor v4.
We will have upgraded 5 of our jukeboxes to dvds by the 18th.
The switch over was seamless which is key as we have a couple of hundred users now .

Set up new hardware upgraded 4 servers to 8.17

Microsoft: MCDBA, MCSE (win2k), MCP (LAST YEAR)
